Senior Project Manager – Commercial Millwork (REMOTE)

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to manage commercial architectural millwork projects from award through final completion. This position requires strong knowledge of custom millwork, construction documents, shop drawings, material procurement, manufacturing, field installation, and project financial management. The Senior Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, architects, designers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal production teams. This individual will direct assign drafters and engineers, coordinate project submittals and samples, release approved work to the production shop, and ensure each project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standards.

What you'll own

• Manage commercial millwork projects from contract award through final completion and closeout.
• Review contracts, proposals, architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, scope sheets, and project requirements.
• Conduct a detailed project handoff with estimating, preconstruction, engineering, purchasing, production, and installation teams.
• Develop and maintain project schedules for engineering, approvals, material procurement, fabrication, delivery, and installation.
• Direct millwork drafters and engineers in the preparation of accurate and complete shop drawings.
• Review millwork shop drawings before submission to ensure they comply with the contract documents, specifications, field conditions, and approved scope.
• Prepare, submit, and track shop drawings, product data, finish samples, material samples, mockups, and other required submittals.
• Review architect and general contractor comments and coordinate all necessary revisions.
• Obtain final approvals before releasing materials and millwork packages to production.
• Create clear and complete production releases, including approved drawings, material selections, hardware requirements, finishes, quantities, and installation details.
• Coordinate with purchasing to ensure materials, hardware, veneers, laminates, stone, specialty products, and long-lead items are ordered on time.
• Coordinate field measurements and verify site conditions before fabrication.
• Communicate regularly with the production shop regarding priorities, sequencing, deadlines, and project-specific requirements.
• Coordinate delivery and installation activities with project superintendents, field foremen, subcontractors, and general contractors.
• Manage RFIs, change orders, cost impacts, schedule changes, and scope clarifications.
• Identify potential conflicts, risks, delays, and cost overruns before they affect the project.
• Prepare and submit change-order proposals with supporting documentation.
• Track project costs, labor hours, purchasing, subcontractor expenses, billings, retainage, and overall profitability.
• Participate in project meetings and provide accurate status updates to customers and company leadership.
• Maintain organized project records, including approvals, correspondence, drawings, submittals, purchase orders, change orders, schedules, and closeout documents.
• Coordinate punch-list completion, warranty items, final documentation, and project closeout.
• Manage multiple commercial millwork projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Build professional relationships with general contractors, architects, designers, vendors, and internal team members.
• Ensure all work meets company’s standards for quality, safety, professionalism, and customer service.

What we're looking for

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in architectural millwork, commercial casework, custom cabinetry, fixtures, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction documents, architectural drawings, specifications, and millwork details.
• Experience managing projects from award through engineering, fabrication, installation, and closeout.
• Experience directing drafters or engineers and reviewing detailed shop drawings.
• Knowledge of millwork manufacturing methods, materials, hardware, veneers, laminates, finishing, casework, and installation.
• Ability to identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, field-condition issues, and constructability concerns.
• Experience preparing RFIs, change orders, submittals, schedules, and project cost reports.
• Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and profitability management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and project priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PDF-markup software, and construction project-management platforms.
• Ability to read and understand AutoCAD-based millwork shop drawings.
• Willingness to travel (Minimal) to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, Inventor, Microvellum, Innergy, or similar millwork and construction-management software.
• Experience working with AWI Quality Certification Program requirements.
• Knowledge of custom veneer work, architectural finishes, solid surfaces, stone countertops, and specialty materials. Experience managing large commercial projects for corporate interiors, hospitality, healthcare, education, sports, or high-end retail clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, or a related field. Equivalent millwork experience will also be considered.
